304 grade stainless steel box section and rectangular hollow section in 6m lengths. Grade 304 (EN 1.4301) gives excellent corrosion resistance for indoor, architectural and food-industry applications without painting or coating.
Used for balustrade posts and frames, architectural structures, shopfitting, food and pharmaceutical equipment frames, marine fabrication, external handrails, chemical plant structures and any application where corrosion resistance and a clean appearance matter.
Grade 304 Stainless Steel
304 is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel. It resists corrosion in most indoor and sheltered outdoor environments, is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, and has excellent weldability and formability. For coastal, marine or chloride-exposed applications, grade 316 is recommended.
Available Sizes
Square (SHS) and rectangular (RHS) profiles in various wall thicknesses. Select from the variant options on this page.
Fabrication
304 stainless welds with TIG or MIG using 308L filler rod and argon shielding gas. Purge the tube interior during welding to prevent oxidation discolouration. Cut with a stainless-rated abrasive disc, bandsaw or plasma cutter. Passivate or pickle weld areas to restore the corrosion-resistant oxide layer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What grade is the stainless box section?
Grade 304 (EN 1.4301) — the standard austenitic stainless steel for architectural, structural and fabrication use with excellent corrosion resistance.
What sizes are available in 6m stainless box section?
Square (SHS) and rectangular (RHS) profiles. Check the product page for the full range of sizes and wall thicknesses.
Can stainless box section be welded?
Yes. TIG welding with 308L filler rod gives the cleanest results. MIG welding works for thicker sections. Purge the inside of the tube with argon during welding to prevent oxidation.
What is stainless box section used for?
Balustrade posts and frames, architectural structures, shopfitting, food and pharmaceutical equipment frames, marine fabrication, external handrails and any application requiring corrosion resistance with a structural profile.
How does stainless box section compare to mild steel?
Stainless costs significantly more per metre but needs no painting or galvanising for corrosion protection. For indoor architectural and food-industry use, the lifetime cost is often lower than painted mild steel.
