Grade 304 (EN 1.4301) gives excellent corrosion resistance for indoor, architectural and food-industry applications without painting or coating.
Used for balustrade posts and frames, architectural structures, shopfitting, food and pharmaceutical equipment frames, marine fabrication, external handrails, chemical plant structures and any application where corrosion resistance and a clean appearance matter.
Grade 304 Stainless Steel
304 is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel. It resists corrosion in most indoor and sheltered outdoor environments, is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, and has excellent weldability and formability. For coastal, marine or chloride-exposed applications, grade 316 is recommended - see our 304 vs 316 stainless steel guide.

Fabrication
304 stainless welds with TIG or MIG using 308L filler rod and argon shielding gas. Purge the tube interior during welding to prevent oxidation discolouration. Cut with a stainless-rated abrasive disc, bandsaw or plasma cutter. Passivate or pickle weld areas to restore the corrosion-resistant oxide layer.
