Mild Steel Sheet & Plate

Our mild steel sheet spans CR4/DC01 cold-rolled sheet (0.8–2.5mm) and S275 hot-rolled structural plate (3–20mm) to BS EN 10130 and BS EN 10025-2. It is the cost-effective choice for welding, fabrication, brackets, base plates and structural work, in 8x4 (2500 x 1250mm), 2m x 1m and 3m x 1.5m sheets. Mill finish — paint, prime or galvanise for outdoor use.

Galvanised Steel Sheet

Galvanised steel sheet is hot-dip zinc coated in DX51D grade for long-term corrosion resistance, ideal for roofing, cladding, ducting, agricultural buildings, gates and outdoor fabrication with no painting required. Available 0.6mm to 3mm across three sheet sizes.

Stainless Steel Sheet

304 stainless steel sheet offers corrosion resistance and a clean architectural finish for kitchens, splashbacks, catering, cladding, signage and hygienic environments. Available in 2B mill, 240-grit brushed and mirror-polished finishes.

Aluminium Sheet & Chequer Plate

Choose lightweight aluminium sheet (1050 H14) for cladding, panels, signage and trailer bodies, or aluminium chequer plate (5754 five-bar) for slip-resistant tread surfaces. Aluminium is around a third of the weight of steel and naturally corrosion-resistant — no coating needed.

Durbar & Chequer Plate

Our steel durbar plate (S275) and aluminium chequer plate (5754) give a raised diamond or five-bar tread pattern for anti-slip flooring, ramps, walkways, vans and workshops. Steel durbar is the heavy-duty industrial option; aluminium chequer the lightweight one.

Zintec Sheet

Zintec sheet is cold-rolled mild steel with a thin electro-zinc coating, giving a smooth, paint-ready surface ideal for enclosures, ducting, panels, automotive and powder-coated work.

Choosing the Right Metal Sheet

Mild steel (CR4 / S275) — strongest and lowest cost for structural and fabrication work; needs painting or galvanising outdoors.
Galvanised steel — zinc-coated mild steel for outdoor corrosion resistance.

Sheet Sizes & Thicknesses

Metal sheet is stocked in standard UK sizes — 8x4 (2500 x 1250mm), 2m x 1m (2000 x 1000mm) and, on selected products, large-format 3m x 1.5m (3000 x 1500mm). Thicknesses run from 0.6mm galvanised and cold-rolled sheet up to 20mm structural steel plate. Cutting, Welding & Finishing

Mild steel, galvanised, stainless and aluminium sheet can all be cut, drilled and welded with the right tools and consumables. Stainless needs stainless filler and pickling paste to restore corrosion resistance at welds; aluminium needs aluminium-specific filler with MIG or TIG; galvanised should be cleaned to bare metal at weld points and re-coated. For exposed mild steelwork, prime and paint or specify galvanised.

Metal sheet and plate is delivered on a pallet to mainland UK, typically 3–5 working days. Sheets are heavy and bulky — please ensure suitable site access and someone available to help offload. What types of metal sheets do you stock?

What's the difference between mild steel, galvanised, stainless and aluminium sheet?

Mild steel is the standard structural and fabrication sheet - strong and weldable but needs painting or galvanising for outdoor use. Galvanised steel is mild steel zinc-coated for corrosion resistance, suited to outdoor cladding, roofing and agricultural use. 304 stainless steel is corrosion-resistant with a clean finish, used in kitchens, food, marine and hygienic environments. Aluminium is lightweight, naturally corrosion-resistant, ideal for trailers, vehicle flooring and architectural work.

What's durbar / chequer plate used for?

Durbar plate (also called chequer plate or tread plate) has a raised diamond or teardrop pattern that provides anti-slip grip. It's used for flooring, walkways, ramps, vehicle floors, vans, trailers, industrial steps, workshop floors and mezzanines. We stock mild steel durbar plate (S275) for structural use and aluminium chequer plate (5754) for lightweight applications.

Can metal sheets be cut to size?

Some products can be cut to size on request - mention your required dimensions in the order notes at checkout, or contact us before ordering for a cutting quote. Standard sheet sizes are supplied uncut. Allow for cutting tolerance and kerf waste when specifying sizes for fabrication projects.

What's the delivery lead time?

Lead times are currently 3-5 working days for metal sheets and plate. Sheets are heavy and bulky items - delivered on a pallet to mainland UK addresses. Suitable site access and somebody available to assist with offloading are required.
