What These Components Are
Handrail posts are the vertical supports of any balustrade run. Specify by tube diameter (matches your handrail tube), height (978mm or 1100mm typical), position (end/mid/corner) and fixing method (bolt-down to existing surface or concrete-in to fresh slab). Top options include plain top, raised end cap, or fully assembled with clamps for glass infill.
Finishes Explained
316 Mirror - the premium architectural finish. Marine-grade 316 stainless polished to a high reflective mirror finish. The choice for showcase residential, hotels, retail and feature installs where appearance matters as much as durability.
316 Satin - the trade standard for external and marine work. Marine-grade 316 stainless with a brushed satin finish - hides fingerprints, water spots and minor scratches. The default choice for balconies, terraces, swimming pools, coastal homes and commercial work.
304 Satin - the indoor/dry-environment option. Standard 304 grade stainless in satin finish - lower cost than 316, perfectly suited to interior staircases, dry-environment installs and budget-focused projects. Not recommended for outdoor or coastal use.
Specification & Standards
All stainless steel components are manufactured to BS EN 10088 stainless steel standards. 316 grade contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel and 2-3% molybdenum (the molybdenum is what gives 316 its marine-grade chloride resistance). 304 grade contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel. Tube and section dimensions to standard UK railing dimensions (42.4mm or 48.3mm OD round tube, 40×40mm square, 40×30mm or 60×30mm channel for glass-top systems).

Compatibility
All components in this range are part of the Brundle Pro-Railing system - the UK's most widely-specified stainless steel balustrade system. Components are fully compatible with each other across finishes and component types - you can mix mirror posts with satin clamps if you want a feature contrast, or specify a single finish throughout. Glass clamps, joiners, brackets and end caps are sized to 42.4mm or 48.3mm round tube - check your tube diameter before ordering fittings.

What post types are available?
End posts (start and finish of a run), mid posts (intermediate support) and corner posts (90-degree direction changes). Available in 42.4mm and 48.3mm diameters.
What heights are the handrail posts?
978mm (42.4mm posts) and 972mm (48.3mm) for approximately 900mm finished barrier height, plus 1100mm for taller balcony barriers. Heights are measured from the base plate to the top of the post.
What grade are the posts?
316 marine grade and 304 grade stainless steel. 316 is recommended for external, coastal and pool installations. 304 suits dry indoor and sheltered locations.
What finishes are available?
Mirror polish (high reflective) and satin (brushed directional grain). Both are available in 316. The 304 range is satin only.
How are handrail posts fixed?
Bolt-down base plate (bolted to the floor surface) or plain-top for site welding to a steel substrate. The base plate is pre-drilled for anchor bolt fixing.
