Hammer-fit caps push in firmly; glue-fit caps use adhesive for a permanent fix. Sizes for 42.4mm and 48.3mm round tube, plus 40×40mm square tube and 40×10mm rectangular.
Coverage in this range: 304 Satin (11 variants), 316 Satin (10 variants), 316 Mirror (5 variants). All products supplied by Brundle - the UK's leading Pro-Railing supplier - and dispatched from UK stock.
What These Components Are
End caps terminate handrail tube neatly at the ends of a run, on top of posts, or anywhere the cut tube edge would otherwise be exposed. They protect from sharp edges, prevent water ingress into the tube, and give a professional finish. Choose hammer fit for tight-tolerance tube and glue fit for tube that's slightly oversized or where a permanent bond is required.
Finishes Explained
316 Mirror - the premium architectural finish. Marine-grade 316 stainless polished to a high reflective mirror finish. The choice for showcase residential, hotels, retail and feature installs where appearance matters as much as durability.
316 Satin - the trade standard for external and marine work. Marine-grade 316 stainless with a brushed satin finish - hides fingerprints, water spots and minor scratches. The default choice for balconies, terraces, swimming pools, coastal homes and commercial work.
304 Satin - the indoor/dry-environment option. Standard 304 grade stainless in satin finish - lower cost than 316, perfectly suited to interior staircases, dry-environment installs and budget-focused projects. Not recommended for outdoor or coastal use.
Specification & Standards
All stainless steel components are manufactured to BS EN 10088 stainless steel standards. 316 grade contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel and 2-3% molybdenum (the molybdenum is what gives 316 its marine-grade chloride resistance). 304 grade contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel. Tube and section dimensions to standard UK railing dimensions (42.4mm or 48.3mm OD round tube, 40×40mm square, 40×30mm or 60×30mm channel for glass-top systems).

Compatibility
All components in this range are part of the Brundle Pro-Railing system - the UK's most widely-specified stainless steel balustrade system. Components are fully compatible with each other across finishes and component types - you can mix mirror posts with satin clamps if you want a feature contrast, or specify a single finish throughout. Glass clamps, joiners, brackets and end caps are sized to 42.4mm or 48.3mm round tube - check your tube diameter before ordering fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hammer fit or glue fit - which should I use?
Hammer-fit end caps have a slight interference fit - you tap them home with a soft mallet and they stay put under friction. Use them when your tube is to spec and you want a removable cap. Glue-fit end caps need silicone sealant or epoxy adhesive on the inside of the tube before fitting - permanent installation. Use them for outdoor applications where moisture ingress is a concern, or where the tube ID is slightly oversize and hammer fit alone wouldn't hold.
Do I need an end cap on every post?
If your post has an open top (no fitting on top), yes - an end cap protects from water ingress, sharp edges and gives a finished look. Posts that already terminate with a built-in saddle clamp, raised end cap or other top fitting don't need a separate end cap. Tube ends along the handrail run (where the rail terminates against a wall or returns to the wall) need wall flanges, not end caps.
What's the difference between 316 and 304 stainless steel?
316 stainless contains molybdenum which gives it superior corrosion resistance against chlorides (salt, swimming pool water, marine air, de-icing salts). 304 stainless is the standard interior-grade - cheaper, perfectly fine for dry indoor use, but will eventually pit and stain in coastal or pool environments. For external use, marine applications, swimming pools, balconies and any salt-exposed location - always specify 316. For indoor stairs, dry environments and budget projects, 304 is the right choice.
Satin or mirror finish - what's the difference?
Both 316 satin and 316 mirror are the same grade of marine stainless steel - the difference is the surface finish only. Satin is a brushed/lined finish that hides fingerprints, scratches and water spotting - it's the standard architectural choice. Mirror is a high-polish reflective finish - more decorative, premium-looking, but shows every fingerprint, water mark and scratch. Pick mirror for showcase installs (luxury homes, hotels, retail), satin for everyday commercial and residential use.
What's the delivery lead time?
