Tube is specified by outside diameter and wall thickness for structural and fabrication use. Galvanised pipe (BS 1387) is sized by nominal bore and suits water, gas, scaffolding and outdoor fencing thanks to its corrosion-resistant coating. Aluminium tube is light and rust-free for architectural and lightweight frames.
