About Galvanised Steel
Galvanised steel is mild steel coated in a layer of zinc by hot-dip galvanising, which protects the steel beneath from rust and corrosion. This makes it well suited to outdoor, damp and exposed applications where untreated mild steel would corrode. The bar can be welded and cut, though any cut ends or welded areas should be re-protected with a suitable zinc-rich paint to maintain corrosion resistance.
