How many tiles do you need?

Pick your colour, pattern and floor area — we'll work out the exact number of tiles and the price.

A quick word on tile size: each tile measures 50 × 50cm on its own, but the interlocking teeth overlap when the tiles slot together — so a laid tile actually covers 47 × 47cm (about 0.22m²), roughly 4.5 tiles per m². Our calculator works on the 47cm laid size, so the quantity it gives you is spot-on with the overlap already accounted for.

Choose Mix for the popular black & grey checkerboard — you'll get half black, half grey tiles.

Tip: measure width × depth in metres. A single garage is roughly 3m × 5m = 15m².

Fitting ramp edges — the quick version
  • 1 ramp fits 1 tile side. Each strip is 470mm — the length of one tile edge — so count the exposed tile edges to get how many ramps you need.
  • Only open edges need them. Ramp the sides facing a doorway, walkway or open floor; edges tight against a wall are left as they are.
  • Male or female? Every tile has male teeth (pegs) on two sides and female sockets on the other two. A ramp fits the opposite type — a tile edge showing pegs takes a female ramp, one showing sockets takes a male ramp — so most floors use a mix of both.
  • Corners: cut one male and one female ramp in half at 45° and butt them together for a neat mitre.
  • Colour: black or grey to blend in, or hi-vis yellow for a clear safety edge. Grab 1–2 spares for cuts.

Heavy-duty garage floor tiles that fit in an afternoon

These are proper heavy-duty garage floor tiles — 12mm thick recycled PVC that shrugs off tyres, trolley jacks, dropped tools, oil and water. There is no adhesive and no underlay: the interlocking teeth click together with a few taps of a rubber mallet, so a single garage can be covered in well under an hour. Because they're loose-laid, they protect the concrete beneath and can be lifted, re-laid or taken with you if you move.

Coin or checker plate, black or grey

Pick the look that suits the space. The coin-stud finish gives an all-over grippy, classic garage-showroom look that hides dust and tyre marks; the checker-plate finish gives a raised industrial workshop tread. Both come in black and grey, and because they're modular you can mix the two into a checkerboard or a bordered "island" for a car bay.

Built for garages, workshops, gyms and showrooms

As interlocking floor tiles for garages they're a favourite for home garages and man caves, but the same tile works hard as workshop floor tiles, home-gym flooring, valeting bays, retail and motorcycle showroom floors, sheds and utility rooms. The textured surface is non-slip even when wet, and the PVC is chemical, stain and moisture resistant — so spills wipe up and the floor stays looking sharp.

Tile size & coverage

Each tile has a nominal size of 50 × 50cm, but because the interlocking teeth overlap when the tiles are joined, each laid tile covers an effective 47 × 47cm — about 0.22m². In practice that's roughly 4.5 tiles per square metre. Not sure how many you need? Use the coverage calculator on this page — enter your floor area and it works out the exact number of tiles (and the price) for you, already allowing for the overlap.

Finish the edges neatly

Where the floor meets an open doorway or sits as an island in the middle of a space, our matching ramp edges give a tidy, trip-free bevelled edge. They're sold separately and add a neat, professional finish to any exposed edge.

Delivery & guarantee

All tiles are brand new and dispatched quickly from the UK, with free UK delivery on all orders (typically 3–5 working days). Every tile is backed by a manufacturer's warranty. Buy a couple of spares — they store flat and are handy for future repairs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are the tiles glued down?

No. They interlock and loose-lay straight onto concrete - no adhesive or underlay needed. They can be lifted and re-laid at any time.

What size are the tiles and how many do I need?

Each tile is 50 x 50cm nominal but covers an effective 47 x 47cm (about 0.22 square metres) once interlocked, so allow roughly 4.5 tiles per square metre. Use the coverage calculator on this page for an exact count - it already allows for the overlap. Order a few spares for cuts and future repairs.

Will they take the weight of a car?

Yes. At 12mm heavy-duty PVC they are rated for domestic and light-commercial vehicles, trolley jacks and workshop traffic. Use a spreader board under a jack's point load on any tiled floor.

Can I use them in a home gym or workshop?

Absolutely - they are widely used as gym flooring and workshop floor tiles. The textured surface is non-slip and deadens noise underfoot.

How do I cut them?

A jigsaw, fine-tooth hand saw or sharp knife all work. Leaving tiles in the sun or a warm room for an hour softens the PVC and makes cutting even easier.

Do I need the ramp edges?

Only where a tiled area has an exposed edge - an open doorway or a free-standing island bay. Against walls you do not need them. Add male and female edges to match your open sides.

Are they OK with oil, water and damp floors?

Yes - the PVC is waterproof, moisture, oil and chemical resistant, so it is suited to garages and workshops and copes with a slightly damp concrete slab.

How long is delivery?

Typically 3-5 working days, with free UK delivery on every order.
