Weight capacity is set by the bracket and your wall fixings, not the board, so use heavy-duty fixings and closer spacing for heavier loads.

How many brackets do you need?

As a guide, fit scaffold board brackets at 400–600mm centres. Shelves up to 80cm need one pair; 80–150cm needs three; 150–220cm needs four; and anything over 220cm needs five or more, with a centre bracket on longer runs. Position the end brackets 50–75mm in from each end for a balanced look.
