Our DDA durbar stair treads are Pattern 1 checker plate steps designed for accessible, public-facing staircases that need a clearly defined step edge. Each DDA tread is pressed from S275 mild steel with a raised anti-slip durbar pattern, a 265mm going, a 50mm turn-up at the rear and an extended 145mm turn-down front nosing. The deep nosing gives a pronounced visual and tactile step edge that supports compliance with accessibility (DDA / Equality Act / Approved Document M) design principles for public buildings.

Fitting & Workability

Each DDA tread is supplied with its pressed nosing ready to bolt or weld to a steel or timber stringer. The self-colour finish is ideal for priming and painting, allowing the deep front nosing to be finished in a contrasting safety colour. S275 durbar plate can be drilled, cut and welded with standard steelwork methods and galvanised after fabrication where external corrosion protection is required.
