About Grade 304 Stainless Steel
304 (1.4307) is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance, strength and a clean bright finish. It is readily welded, machined and fabricated and is well suited to architectural, structural, marine, catering and food-industry applications where hygiene and corrosion resistance matter. Yes. 304 machines with carbide tooling at appropriate speeds. Use cutting fluid to manage heat as stainless work-hardens during machining.

304 is essentially non-magnetic in its annealed state, though cold working can induce slight magnetism. This distinguishes it from mild steel which is strongly magnetic.
