Grades & Finishes

Grade 304 (1.4307) is the most widely used austenitic stainless - excellent corrosion resistance for architectural, structural and general use. Grade 316 (1.4401) adds molybdenum for superior resistance in marine, coastal and chemical environments. Satin is a brushed everyday finish; mirror polish is a bright reflective finish for premium architectural and balustrade work.

Handrail & Balustrade Tube

The 42.4mm and 48.3mm outside diameters (x 2.0mm wall) are the UK standard sizes for stainless handrail and balustrade systems, which is why they are stocked in both 304 and 316 and in satin and mirror finishes. They pair with our stainless handrail components range.

Cutting & Fabrication

Stainless tube cuts with a stainless-rated cutting disc or bandsaw and welds with appropriate stainless techniques (TIG or MIG with stainless filler). Use stainless-only tooling and pickling paste to restore corrosion resistance at welds. Avoid contamination from mild-steel tools, which can cause surface rust staining.
