Galvanised & Green PVC Chain Link Fencing

Rackerman chain link fencing is a strong, see-through wire mesh fence ideal for boundaries, security lines, dog runs, sports areas and commercial sites. Our chain link (also spelt chainlink) is woven from galvanised steel and offered in a discreet green PVC finish, giving you a durable, low-maintenance barrier that lasts for years. Supplied in 25-metre rolls from 3ft to 6ft high, it is an economical mesh fencing solution that is quick to install between timber, concrete or steel posts.

Chain link fencing is a diamond-pattern wire fence manufactured to BS EN 10223-6 / BS 1722-10 from galvanised steel wire, with an optional green PVC coating bonded over the galvanising for extra weather resistance and a softer garden appearance. The result is a strong, transparent boundary that maintains visibility and airflow while keeping people and animals where they should be — the reliable workhorse of residential, agricultural and commercial fencing.

Galvanised vs Green PVC Chain Link

Finish Best for
Galvanised Traditional bare-metal finish — tough and economical for agricultural, industrial and security use
Green PVC-coated Galvanised core plus a green polymer skin — ideal for gardens, dog runs and residential boundaries

Typical Uses for Chain Link Fencing

Chain link is used for garden and property boundaries, security and perimeter fencing, dog runs and kennels, tennis courts and sports enclosures, allotments and commercial yards. Its open diamond weave keeps sightlines and airflow clear, making it the standard choice where you need containment without a solid visual barrier.

Rigid Alternative — Welded Mesh Panels

For a rigid alternative to chain link — better for security-critical boundaries, small-animal runs and permanent installations where you need a flat, cut-resistant panel — see our galvanised welded mesh panels (12G, 25mm/50mm holes) or 10G heavy-duty welded mesh panels. For coloured finishes that suit residential settings, our black PVC coated welded mesh panels or green PVC coated welded mesh panels are the rigid equivalent to PVC chain link.

Build a Complete Run

Chain link needs straining posts at ends and corners, intermediate posts at roughly 3m centres, plus line wire and tensioning to keep the mesh taut. Sold per 25m roll. Need higher security? For anti-climb commercial and industrial perimeters, see our galvanised palisade fencing range — heavy-duty steel security fencing in 1.8m to 3.0m heights.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What posts do I need for chain link fencing?

Straining posts at every end and corner, intermediate posts at roughly 3m centres, with line wires top, middle and bottom to support the mesh.

What is the difference between galvanised and PVC chain link?

Both have a galvanised steel core; PVC adds a green plastic coating for longer life and a tidier garden look.

How long does chain link fencing last?

Galvanised chain link typically lasts 10 to 15+ years outdoors; PVC-coated lasts longer again thanks to the extra barrier.
