Galvanised Stock Fencing Rolls for UK Farms

Rackerman stock fencing is a strong, stock-proof galvanised wire fence built for British farms, paddocks and smallholdings. Whether you need agricultural fencing to contain sheep, pigs, cattle or horses, our heavy-galvanised stock fence rolls give you a long-life boundary that stands up to livestock pressure and the UK weather. Supplied in convenient 50-metre rolls across a range of heights, it is the dependable farm fencing choice for new runs, repairs and full field boundaries.

Stock fencing (also called stock netting or stock-proof fencing) uses a hinged-joint design that flexes under impact and springs back, so animals cannot push through or work it loose. Every roll is manufactured from heavily galvanised mild steel wire to BS EN 10223-5, giving excellent corrosion resistance and a service life of many years in the field.

How to Read the Stock Fence Code (e.g. C8/80/15)

The code tells you exactly what you are buying. The first letter is the animal/duty class: L for light, C for intermediate and HT for high-tensile. The first number is the count of horizontal line wires (e.g. 8). The middle number is the height in centimetres (e.g. 80 = 80cm). The last number is the vertical wire spacing in centimetres — 15cm suits sheep, pigs and lambs, while wider spacing suits cattle and horses.

Typical Uses for Stock Fencing

Stock fencing is used for sheep and lamb containment, pig wire runs, cattle and horse paddocks, field and farm boundaries, woodland and conservation fencing, and temporary stock fencing for rotational grazing. Top it with a strand or two of our galvanised barbed wire for added height and deterrence on boundary lines.

Cut to Size, Fixing & Quantities

Sold per 50m roll. For long boundaries, order in multiples and overlap joints by one full vertical. Pair with timber or steel stock fence posts at every 2.5–3m, straining posts at corners, a line wire tensioner and galvanised staples for a complete, stock-proof run. Tension each roll between straining posts before stapling so the fence stays taut under livestock pressure.

Delivery

Dispatched on a fast UK mainland service. Bulk/multi-roll orders ship on a pallet (kerbside delivery — please allow for offloading). Highlands, islands and offshore postcodes may carry a surcharge — contact us for a quote before ordering.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is stock fencing?

A galvanised wire mesh fence with horizontal line wires and vertical stay wires joined by hinged knots, designed to contain livestock such as sheep, pigs, cattle and horses.

How do I tension stock fencing?

Fix one end to a strained corner post, then use a wire strainer or ratchet tensioner to pull the roll taut along the run before stapling to intermediate posts.

What height stock fencing do I need?

80cm to 100cm suits sheep and pigs; 120cm+ suits cattle, deer-prone sites and horses. Add a strand of barbed or plain line wire on top for extra security.
