Galvanised Rabbit Fencing & Rabbit Wire Netting

Rackerman rabbit fencing is a galvanised rabbit wire netting with a 31mm (1¼") hexagonal mesh, sized specifically to stop rabbits pushing through. Woven from rust-resistant galvanised steel and supplied in 50-metre rolls, it is the dependable rabbit-proof fencing choice for gardens, allotments, smallholdings and crop protection across the UK. Every roll is manufactured to BS EN 10223-2 from galvanised mild steel for a long outdoor life, so your rabbit fence keeps working season after season without rusting through.

The 31mm hexagonal aperture is the detail that matters. It is small enough to stop adult and juvenile rabbits forcing their heads and bodies through, yet the netting stays light enough to handle, cut and shape around borders, raised beds and awkward corners single-handed. That combination of strength and workability is why 31mm galvanised rabbit netting is the standard choice for rabbit-proofing across British gardens and growing plots.

How to Stop Rabbits Digging Under the Fence

Rabbits are burrowers, so how you set the fence into the ground matters as much as its height. Bury the bottom 150mm of netting and turn it outwards in an L-shape facing the rabbits — this stops them digging underneath and tunnelling into the protected area. Above ground, a height of 900mm to 1200mm deters jumping and climbing. For determined populations, peg the buried lip down or weigh it with stone or turf so it cannot be scraped loose. Run the netting tight between posts to remove any slack a rabbit could push under.

Typical Uses for Rabbit Netting

Rabbit fencing is used for rabbit-proofing gardens and allotments, vegetable bed and crop protection, tree and shrub guards, and smallholding or paddock boundaries. It also works as a temporary brassica and seedling guard while young plants establish. For poultry control with a different aperture, see our chicken wire; for stock-proof field boundaries, pair it with our stock fencing as a buried rabbit skirt.

Cut to Size, Fixing & Quantities

Galvanised rabbit netting is sold per 50m roll and cuts easily with wire snips. Fix it to timber posts with galvanised staples, or to steel posts with cable ties or line wire. Overlap roll ends by one full hexagon and lace them together so there is no gap for rabbits to exploit. As a guide, one 50m roll covers a 50-metre run, less any buried L-foot you fold in at the base.
