Specification

3.0m galvanised palisade is built to BS 1722 Part 12 (the UK standard for steel palisade security fencing) and hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 for long-term corrosion resistance. Posts are 98x55x6.72mm steel section, 3925mm long for concrete-in or fitted with a 200x200x10mm baseplate for bolt-down. Horizontal rails are 50x50x6mm steel angle. Pales are triple-point D profile (3.0mm, heavy duty) or section W profile (2.0mm, standard).

Suited to: high-security perimeter for prisons, substations and MOD sites.

Use the 3.0m Palisade Calculator

Not sure how much you need? Our 3.0m Palisade Fencing Calculator takes your fence length in metres and works out exactly which components to order - runs, total posts needed, extra posts to buy on top of the kits, and any corner or end fish plates. The calculator adds the items directly to your basket at the live prices shown on this page. The post-counting maths is the part most buyers get wrong, so the calculator saves you from under-ordering or over-ordering.

Common Uses for 3.0m Palisade

Commercial and industrial perimeter security, council depots, schools, utility sites, car parks, warehouses, yards, factory perimeters, substations and infrastructure. 3.0m is the standard specification for high-security perimeter for prisons, substations and MOD sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 3.0m galvanised palisade fencing?
3.0m galvanised palisade fencing is a heavy-duty steel security fence comprising vertical pales bolted between two horizontal rails on steel posts, hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 for long-term corrosion resistance. 3.0m is suited to high-security perimeter for prisons, substations and MOD sites. Built to BS 1722 Part 12, the UK standard for steel palisade security fencing.

What's the difference between D profile and W profile pales?
D profile pales are 3mm thick with a triple-pointed top - heavier duty, more secure, harder to climb. W profile pales are 2mm thick with a notched (W-shaped) top - lighter and lower cost. On the 3.0m fence: D pale = £16.99 each, W pale = £14.99 each. D is the standard choice for commercial and high-security work; W is the budget option for lower-risk perimeters.

What's the difference between bolt-down and concrete-in posts?
Bolt-down posts (£130.99 each) have a welded baseplate and bolt to an existing concrete slab using anchor bolts - faster on existing hardstanding. Concrete-in posts (£83.99 each) are plain at the base and set into a fresh concrete footing dug into the ground - more secure, standard for new installations. For 3.0m fencing, concrete-in posts are 3925mm long.

How do I work out how much 3.0m palisade fencing I need?
Use our free 3.0m Palisade Fencing Calculator - enter your fence length in metres and it works out exactly how many 2.75m runs, posts, fish plates and bolts you need. The calculator adds the items directly to your basket at the prices shown on this page. The post-counting maths is the part most buyers get wrong: each run needs 3 posts (one each end, one middle), each kit includes 1 post, and posts are shared between adjoining runs, so extra posts to buy = number of runs + 1.

What's included in a 3.0m 2.75m run kit?
Each 3.0m 2.75m run kit contains 17 galvanised pales (D or W profile, depending on variant), 2 horizontal rails (50x50x6mm steel angle), 2 fish plates, 1 post (3925mm long, either bolt-down with baseplate or concrete-in), and 1 pack of bolts (4 rail bolts plus 34 pale bolts). 2.75m run kit prices: Bolt-Down D £363, Bolt-Down W £336, Concrete-In D £329, Concrete-In W £302.

Can I buy individual components without the full kit?
Yes - every component is sold as a standalone variant on this page. Buy individual pales (D or W), posts (bolt-down or concrete-in), horizontal rails, standard fish plates, end fish plates, corner fish plates, or pale bolt packs. Useful for repairs, replacements, top-ups when the run kits don't quite cover your length, or custom layouts needing extra corners.

What's the difference between standard, end and corner fish plates?
Standard fish plates join two horizontal rails in a straight run - one fish plate per rail joint. End fish plates terminate a rail cleanly at the end of a fence run against a post. Corner fish plates turn the rail through 90 degrees at a corner post. A simple straight-run fence uses 2 standard fish plates per joint; add end fish plates where the fence terminates and corner fish plates wherever the fence changes direction.

How many posts do I need for my fence?
Each 2.75m run needs 3 posts to stand (one at each end, one in the middle). Posts are shared between adjoining runs, so the formula is: total posts = (number of runs x 2) + 1. Each run kit includes 1 post, so extra posts to buy = number of runs + 1. Example: a 3-run fence (8.25m) needs 7 posts total - the 3 kits cover 3 posts, so you buy 4 extra. Use our 3.0m Palisade Calculator to work it out automatically.

Is 3.0m palisade strong enough for security?
Yes - galvanised palisade is the UK trade standard for industrial and commercial security perimeters. The triple-point D profile pales deter climbing, the heavy steel construction resists cutting and impact. 3.0m is suited to high-security perimeter for prisons, substations and MOD sites. Specified correctly (correct height, D profile, concrete-in posts, secure fixings) it's the security fence of choice for Network Rail, MOD, prisons, substations, council depots and serious commercial sites.

Can I get a quote for a large project?
Yes - for large palisade projects (typically 50m+ runs, multiple heights, or complex layouts with corners and gates), we'll quote against your specific requirements. Contact us with the total length, height, profile (D or W), fixing method (bolt-down or concrete-in), number of corners and any access constraints, and we'll come back with a project price.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is palisade fencing sold?
It is sold in complete 2.75m runs. Each run contains 17 pales, 2 horizontal rails, 1 post, 2 fish plates and a pre-pack of bolts (4 rail bolts and 34 pale bolts). Individual components are also available to buy separately.

How many posts do I need?
Each 2.75m run is two bays and needs 3 posts (each end and the middle), but the kit includes only 1 - so a single run needs 2 extra posts. Posts are shared where runs join, so the extra posts needed equals the number of runs plus one (1 run = 2 extra, 2 runs = 3 extra, 3 runs = 4 extra, and so on).

What size are the pales and what is the difference between D and W?
All pales are 3.0m high and approximately 68mm wide, with a triple-pointed top, made to BS 1722 Part 12. The D section pale is 3.0mm thick - the heavier-duty, higher-security option. The W section pale is 2.0mm thick - a lighter, more cost-effective option.

What is the difference between bolt-down and concrete-in posts?
The concrete-in post is 3925mm long with no baseplate and is set into the ground in concrete. The bolt-down post has a 220 x 220 x 10mm baseplate and bolts to an existing hard surface.

What material is the palisade made from, and is it galvanised?
All components are mild steel, hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 after fabrication for long-term corrosion resistance. The whole system is made to BS 1722 Part 12. Re-protect any cut or drilled areas with zinc-rich paint on site.

What does each component do?
Posts are the vertical supports. Horizontal rails span between posts. The pales bolt to the rails to form the fence face. Fish plates join the rails to the posts and join runs together. The bolt pack fixes it all together - 4 rail bolts and 34 pale bolts per run.

What are the delivery details?
Delivery is £15 or free over £200 ex VAT. Lead times are currently 5-10 working days, with early bookings prioritised. Palisade is delivered on a pallet, so please ensure suitable access.
