Why choose perforated mild steel sheet?

Perforated mild steel combines strength with open area for airflow, light, drainage and visual effect, which is why perforated steel sheet is one of the most widely specified perforated metal panels in the trade. It is used for ventilation grilles, machine and plant guards, screens and sieves, balustrade and balcony infill panels, acoustic screening, vehicle and trailer panels, agricultural screens, sign blanks and decorative facade cladding. Smaller holes such as R0.8/T1.5 give a finer, more solid appearance with higher strength; larger holes such as R20/T27 give a greater open area for maximum airflow and through-vision.

Hole patterns available

All patterns are round-hole on a staggered 60° triangular layout, the UK industry standard. The pattern code reads as R (hole diameter) / T (pitch, centre-to-centre spacing).

Material grade & specification

Manufactured from commercial-quality mild steel – cold-reduced CR4 to BS EN 10130 (DC01) in the lighter gauges, and hot-rolled mild steel to BS EN 10025 (S235JR) in the heavier 3mm and 5mm gauges. Supplied mill finish (uncoated) and ready to paint, powder-coat or galvanise. Perforated mild steel sheet is supplied as a decorative and general-fabrication product and is not CE/UKCA-marked for load-bearing structural use.

Sizes, thickness & tolerances

Sheet sizes: 2 x 1m and 2.5 x 1.25m. Thicknesses: 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm and 5mm. Heavier gauges give greater rigidity and load-bearing capacity; lighter gauges are easier to cut, form and handle for decorative screens. Material is produced to BS EN ISO 9001 tolerances. Delivery & offloading

Lead times are currently 3–5 working days. Perforated sheets are heavy, bulky items delivered on a pallet to mainland UK addresses. Please ensure suitable site access and someone available to assist with offloading. Free UK delivery is included.
