Standard 304 grade stainless steel handrail and balustrade posts in a brushed satin finish – the cost-effective choice for indoor staircases, landings and dry, sheltered balustrade runs. Supplied as end, mid and corner posts in 42.4mm and 48.3mm round tube, plain-top for site welding to handrail tube or fitting with saddle clamps.
When to Choose 304 Satin
304 stainless gives excellent corrosion resistance in interior and dry environments at a lower cost than marine-grade 316. It is the correct specification for internal staircases, mezzanines, retail and office fit-outs, and any sheltered location away from chlorides. For external, coastal or swimming-pool work, choose our 316 Satin or 316 Mirror posts instead.
What These Posts Are
Handrail posts are the vertical supports of a balustrade run. Specify by tube diameter (to match your handrail tube) and position – end posts start and finish a run, mid posts give intermediate support, corner posts handle 90° direction changes. These 304 posts are supplied plain-top, ready to weld to tube or fit with saddle clamps on site.
Specification & Standards
Manufactured to BS EN 10088 stainless steel standards. 304 grade contains 18–20% chromium and 8–10.5% nickel for dependable corrosion resistance in indoor and dry conditions. Tube to standard UK railing dimensions – 42.4mm or 48.3mm OD round. Post height 978mm (42.4mm) and 972mm (48.3mm), measured base plate to top, for an approximate 900mm finished barrier height.

Is 304 stainless suitable for outdoor use?
- 304 is recommended for indoor and dry, sheltered locations. For external, coastal or swimming-pool environments choose 316 marine grade.
What heights are the posts?
- 978mm (42.4mm) and 972mm (48.3mm), measured from the base plate to the top of the post, for roughly 900mm finished barrier height.
How are the posts fixed and topped?
- Supplied plain-top with a pre-drilled base plate for anchor-bolt fixing, ready to weld to handrail tube or fit saddle clamps on site.
