Why 316 Mirror
Mirror-polished 316 combines the marine-grade chloride resistance of 316 stainless with a showcase reflective finish. It is specified for feature staircases, hotels, retail, showrooms and high-end residential balconies – anywhere the balustrade is part of the design. Handrail posts are the vertical supports of a balustrade run. Specify by tube diameter (to match your handrail tube), height (978mm or 1100mm), position – end, mid or corner – and top detail. Top options here are raised end cap or plain top; all mirror posts are supplied with a bolt-down welded base unless noted as raised-cap.
Specification & Standards
Manufactured to BS EN 10088 stainless steel standards. 316 grade contains 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel and 2–3% molybdenum – the molybdenum is what gives 316 its marine-grade resistance to chlorides for coastal and swimming-pool use. 42.4mm OD round tube. Heights 978mm and 1100mm, measured from the base plate to the top of the post.

Mix mirror posts with satin fittings for a feature contrast, or specify mirror throughout. Check your tube diameter before ordering fittings.

How do I keep a mirror finish looking its best?
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent, then dry to avoid water spotting. Avoid abrasive pads, which dull the polish. In coastal locations, rinse periodically to remove salt deposits.
What heights are the posts?
- 978mm and 1100mm, measured from the base plate to the top of the post – 978mm gives roughly a 900mm finished barrier height, 1100mm suits taller balcony barriers.
How are the posts fixed?
- Bolt-down base plate, pre-drilled for anchor-bolt fixing to the floor surface. Raised end-cap versions finish the top of the post cleanly.
